ARLINGTON -- Five concerts on the patio, Fireworks Nights, Free Kids Tuesdays, and All You Can Eat Seats for Thursday-Sunday games highlight the Rangers 2008 promotional schedule, the club announced on Thursday.

The Rangers also announced their individual game ticket prices, which went up in some of the higher-priced areas but remain the same in the lower-priced areas.

"We realize a large portion of our fans sit in our affordable family areas located in the outfield and close to the Coca-Cola Youth Park," Rangers vice president Jim Sundberg said. "All those seating areas -- lower reserved and bleachers -- had no price increases. Most of the seats that had a price increase this year are in the premium areas between the bases. We have always tried to keep our lowest-price seats affordable to fans of all income levels.

"There are not a large number of these seats available for single-game ticket purchasers as most are sold to season or partial plan holders. Season and partial plan holders did not have a price increase. In fact, renewing full season ticket holders who paid in full by Dec. 14 received free season ticket parking."

Mini-plan holders who renew by Jan. 26 will not have a price increase. The Rangers will still have premier ticket prices for their 12 home games against the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

"Variable or premier games are now the standard and not the exception in Major League Baseball," Sundberg said. "In fact, 19 clubs used it last year and 21 will have it in 2008."

For regular games, Cuervo Club prices went up $20 while Commissioners Box and VIP Infield remained the same. Premium infield, Lexus Club infield and lower infield went up $5, lower box went up $3, corner box and club terrace went up $2 and upper box went up $1.

"We have added 11 Tuesday home games as Free Kid Tuesdays," Sundberg said. "This is a great deal and lets each parent bring their child to a Rangers game (except Opening Day and Aug. 5) for free in any seating area. In addition, Ozarka Website Wednesdays will return in 2008 offering half-price tickets for 11 Wednesday home games in seven price levels when tickets are purchased on texasrangers.com."

Inside Pitch members may purchase individual tickets in a special pre-sale beginning March 3. Fans can sign up at texasrangers.com to receive free Inside Pitch e-newsletters and receive this early opportunity.

The promotional highlights include five concerts on the patio: a pregame performance by Third Day on April 12, Robert Earl Keen postgame on May 17, Eli Young Band postgame on July 12 and for the third consecutive season, a pregame concert by MercyMe, scheduled this year for Aug. 2. The final performance is yet to be determined.

Fan-favorites Dollar Hot Dog Night, Drumstick $1 Ice Cream Sundays for kids 13 and under, and Dr Pepper Autograph Wednesdays will all return in 2008. There will be a Dog Day on Aug. 17, allowing fans to bring their four-legged friends to the ballpark for an afternoon of Rangers baseball. Another Dog Day game may be added later.

Also returning in 2008 are Rangers Family Packs, which include four tickets, four Hebrew National jumbo hot dogs, and four 24-ounce soft drinks for one low price (additional person discounts available). Three seating options are available again this season.

Five Fireworks Nights are scheduled throughout the season and there are also the perennial Rangers ball caps, beach towels and bobbleheads, and a rhinestone hat on Mother's Day, May 11.

Individual tickets go on sale Friday, March 7. Ticket prices for non-premier games remain unchanged in each of the four lowest-priced brackets, and are also the same as 2007 in five of the six lowest-priced categories.

In 2006, a Sports Illustrated fan survey ranked Rangers Ballpark in Arlington No. 5 among the 30 Major League parks for best value and experience, taking into account ticket prices, concession cost, accessibility, amenities, atmosphere, neighborhood and team. Additionally, in the most recent Fan Cost Index conducted by Team Marketing Report in 2006, the Rangers had the third-lowest average ticket price in Major League Baseball.

Pitching watch:The latest on the Rangers pitching watch: The Rangers could have a deal wrapped up with free agent reliever Eddie Guardado by Friday. The two sides have been working on the final language of the deal involving incentive clauses.

The Rangers have had increased discussions and could be closing in on a deal with free agent pitcher Jason Jennings, who is from Dallas and still lives in the area. He is one of four free agent starters they are looking at along with right-hander Bartolo Colon and left-handers Mark Hendrickson and Mike Maroth. Jennings, a former National League Rookie of the Year winner with the Rockies, was 2-9 with a 6.45 ERA in 19 games for the Astros last season while going on the disabled list twice because of an elbow injury.

The Rangers have released pitcher Bill White to take him off the 40-man roster but have interest in re-signing him to a Minor League contract.
