Mariners at the plate: Third baseman Adrian Beltre belted his fourth home run and added three singles, and first baseman Richie Sexson went 3-for-4 with a home run as Seattle used its probable Opening Day lineup for the first time this spring. A six-run outburst in the third inning featured a two-run double to left-center by second baseman Jose Lopez. Designated hitter Jose Vidro contributed a run-scoring, ground-rule double.

Rangers at the plate: Designated hitter Frank Catalanotto went 3-for-4, scored a run and drove in a run. Shortstop Ramon Vazquez went 2-for-2 and scored a run. Catcher Miguel Ojeda, a former Mariner, hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning.

Mariners on the mound: Opening Day starter Felix Hernandez went five innings in his final tune-up, holding the AL West rivals to seven hits and two runs. His next appearance will be on Monday at Safeco Field against the Athletics. Left-handed reliever George Sherrill pitched one inning, the first time he has pitched in back-to-back games this spring.

Rangers on the mound: Starter Vicente Padilla's final tune-up for the regular season was a tad rocky. The right-hander surrendered 11 hits and 10 runs in 4 1/3 innings. Right-handed reliever Scott Feldman left the game after being hit by a line drive. He sustained a bruised right arm and is listed as day-to-day.

Cactus League records: Mariners 13-17; Rangers 15-10.

Up next: The Mariners will split into two teams on Thursday, with most of the regulars going to San Francisco for a night game (9:05 p.m. CT) against the Giants. The other team remains in Peoria for a 2:05 p.m. CT game against the Padres. Left-hander Jarrod Washburn starts against the Giants while Sean White, Jake Woods and Jon Huber are slated to pitch in Peoria. The Rangers return to Surprise to face their Spring Training partner Royals in a 3:05 p.m. CT game with right-hander Brandon McCarthy scheduled to start.
