ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Infielder Ian Kinsler had his dislocated left thumb put back in place by hand specialist Dr. Norman Zemel during a medical procedure on Wednesday.

Kinsler has been placed on the disabled list and outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. has been activated. He had been on the disabled list with a strained ribcage muscle.

Kinsler, who is batting .476, is expected to be sidelined for three weeks. He was injured sliding head-first into second base during Tuesday's game with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
