2011 Postseason Players

Justin Verlander

Up Close and Personal

The Tigers have Verlander's father, a union negotiator, to thank for stepping in and getting him signed when contract talks stalled coming out of Old Dominion University after the 2004 Draft. The rest is history, including his second no-hitter this past May and the highest win total for an American League pitcher since Bob Welch won 27 in 1990.
