Just when the 2003 Red Sox think they have filled their quota of agonizing defeats, another one finds them. Boston was one out away from winning Game 1 of the ALDS in the ninth when Alan Embree gave up a game-tying single to push it to extra innings. After 4 1/2 hours of scratching, clawing and battling, it was the most unlikely play of Oakland's 2003 season that sent them to an unbelievable win on Wednesday. With two out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning, Ramon Hernandez dropped down a bunt to drive in the winning run in Oakland's longest postseason game ever. Full story >
