This Day in Baseball History:
January 31, 1919 > Jackie Robinson is born in Cairo, Georgia. The first African-American to play Major League Baseball in the 20th century, Robinson will have to endure unspeakable insults and acts of hatred during his first few years in the league. He will emerge a hero, however, with his courage and inspired play opening the door for players of all races.
