Texas Rangers marketing and community efforts in the Hispanic community
03/27/2007 4:26 PM ET
ARLINGTON -- Details of the Texas Rangers' continuing efforts to increase the team's visibility and impact in the Dallas/Fort Worth Hispanic community have been announced for the 2007 season.

Héroes en la Comunidad, a program that was tested last season, will be continued through the 2007 season and sponsored by Chevrolet. The Texas Rangers will honor one Dallas/Forth Worth Hispanic Community leader each month of the season in a special pre-game ceremony. Fans will have the opportunity to nominate someone from the Dallas/Fort Worth community who has made a difference in the Hispanic community. The nominees should exhibit leadership, civic responsibility, courage, and dedication on a local level through educational and volunteer programs, corporate citizenship, or any other avenue that demonstrates dedication within the Hispanic community. Each of the six winners will receive six tickets to the Texas Rangers game when they will be recognized along with $500 for the non-profit organization of their choice. The people who submit the winning nominations will also receive two tickets to the game where the leader is recognized.

The partnership between the Texas Rangers and the Consulate of Mexico that was successfully introduced in 2005 will continue. This relationship allows the Rangers to distribute Spanish pocket schedules and fan guides at the Consulate office, and each month, one Consulate family will be selected as the Family of the Month (Familia del Mes de los Rangers) and receive tickets to a Rangers game. Additionally, this year the Rangers will provide vouchers good for two (2) free tickets to select games to be distributed to visitors at the Consulate office throughout the season. The Rangers also produce a welcome video that will run at the Consulate Office to provide information about the Rangers, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, and to invite individuals and families to enjoy a game at Rangers Ballpark.

On Saturday, May 5, the Texas Rangers will celebrate Cinco de Mayo and distribute 20,000 Los Rangers T-shirts, sponsored by Texas Chevy Dealers. Hispanic Heritage Month will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8 with pre-game entertainment, a special on-field presentation and a fireworks show following the game, sponsored by AT&T.
